DAY 2 AT MT CARDIGAN BY NED C
On day two of our Cardigan trip I woke up groggy and itchy with a man knocking on the room that I shared with Smith,Travis and Noah. I got out of bed and pulled on some clothes and walked downstairs half asleep to get hot chocolate. We waited as one hiking group set the tables. We eat a breakfast of eggs and bacon with some other side foods. After that we went outside to meet with our hiking groups and start the hike up firescrew. As my group started off we walked by many camp sites. After a short time walking Josh said there were two cellar holes so we fanned out and found them. Later and a quater up firescrew we stopped to draw a spruce tree and merser its diameter. Then Josh stopped us again to feel the needles of both spruce and fir trees. He also told us a little frase ( spiky spruce and friendly fur ) for how spiky the needles were. As we walked on we saw a change in the environment the trees grew smaller and the ground was rocky and not covered in leaves. Then we hit forest a sing that we were moving toward the top again the trees were not as tall but was still very rocky and we put a waypoint on a huge boulder that had fallen from a glacier. Then we were out again and the trees were small and the ground was hard and rocky. After several false summits we got to the to. It was very windy and we eat lunch behind a rock. After a nice lunch we passed to the cardigan in little time to walk though the foest of small trees. At the top of Cardigan it was bare rock and no trees. After 30min we left and went to South Peak and then whic is almost right next to South Peak Rim Rock we did not stay long at either one because we were going to do all five peaks and we were on the side of the mountian and it was very wimdy. The next and last peak we did was orange mountain. It was farther away and as we travled ther the trees grow taller and there were more small plants. After we sketched orange peak we moved fast down the side of orange mountain. About half way down we pass the line where only evergreen trees grow we were almost to the bottem. After that we stopped once at a place where 5 trails meet. Then the trail was flat and it was not long before we saw the amc loge I ran the last few yards. At 4:45 we had free time until we had dinner. The dinner was tacos and was a bar where we we got the condiments for it. After that Mr Woolner read us a story and we went to bed.
